The Garden Divided
On the 1914 OS. map the curtilage of Friars Lawn is shown as still possessing it’s original boundaries. By the time that the 1934 map had been drawn, the property had been divided, leaving Friars Lawn with a much reduced rear garden (875 square meters as against over 3000).

The division probably occurred closer to the 1934 than to 1914 – note the lack of paths and the undeveloped state of the right hand side of the garden in Jennifer Selfrige MacLeod’s description.
